Feng Shui Compass - The Invention of Compass

It is believed that the use of a magnet was first discovered by the Chinese emperor Huangdi about 4,600 years ago.  The earliest reference to magnetism is found in a Chinese book dated to 4th century BC book and the earliest reference to a magnetic device used as a compass is in another Chinese book dated to AD 1040.

The compass is one of the Four Great Inventions of Ancient China: Compass, Gunpowder, Papermaking and Printing.  Compass is mainly used for navigations, that is, to show the directions.  This is why the compass is used in Feng Shui - to tell the exact direction of a property hence calculate the details accordingly.

Loupan is the special compass used in Feng Shui.  It is a very accurate compass plus a turntable that contains the necessary information for Feng Shui consultants, including Bagua and other charts.  In order to use a Loupan, one must know how to read Chinese characters and understand their meanings.

If interested, you can have a detailed explanation by consulting an authenticated Feng Shui practitioner.  Good Luck!
